Telegram from Admiralty to [Rear-Admiral Archibald Stoddart, 5th Cruiser Squadron], ordering that in view of the reported sinking of HMS Good Hope and HMS Monmouth by the [German cruisers] Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, all armoured ships on the south east coast of America were ordered to concentrate at once.
