Telegram from Allan Maclean, [British Consul-General], (Valparaiso, [Chile]) to Admiralty, on a report from a Chilean Admiral of an action off Coronel between [Rear-Admiral Sir Christopher Cradock's 4th Cruiser Squadron], and the German ships Scharnhorst, Gneisenau and Nurnberg, reporting that HMS Monmouth had turned over and sunk, and that the remainder of the British squadron had drawn off into the darkness, with HMS Good Hope on fire.
