Scope and Contents
Telegram from Commander-in-Chief, Home Fleet [Admiral Sir John Jellicoe] to Admiralty, reporting that Scapa Flow [Orkney Islands, Scotland] and other North Sea bases at Switha Sound and Hoxa Sound [Orkney Islands], and Loch Ewe [Ross and Cromarty] could not be used until submarine defences had been placed. Includes WSC's reply authorising Jellicoe to demand whatever materials and labour were required for the construction of defences. [Carbon, with hand-written reply, initialled by WSC].
