Letter from WSC [First Lord of the Admiralty] to Prince Louis of Battenberg [1st Sea Lord, later Lord Milford Haven] stating that he could not pass over Rear-Admiral Alexander Duff in favour of Rear-Admiral Horace Hood for the post of Rear Admiral, 4th Battle Squadron, as Duff was senior, and had been promised the post once mobilisation was complete.
