He asks for a sign that he still commands the confidence and trust of the King and the Government, and requests to be admitted to the Privy Council. Battenberg also comments on the choice of his successor, recommending Admiral of the Fleet 1st Lord Fisher as 1st Sea Lord, and Admiral of the Fleet Sir Arthur Wilson as Chief of Staff [Battenberg became a Privy Councillor on 5 Nov 1914].
