Scope and Contents
Letter from Admiral of the Fleet 1st Lord Fisher [Chairman, Royal Commission on Oil Fuel] to WSC [First Lord of the Admiralty] on oil supply, urging him not to quarrel with Henri Deterding [Director, Shell Oil Company], "The greatest man I have met", suggesting that WSC make a contract with him for the use of his fleet of 64 oil tankers in case of war. Fisher also comments on a conversation with Sir Marcus Samuel [later 1st Lord Bearsted] about attacks on WSC by Admiral Lord Charles Beresford. [Carbon copy; see CHAR 13/21/67 for original].
