Scope and Contents

Letter from [WSC, First Lord of the Admiralty] to Admiral Arthur Limpus [Naval Adviser to the Turkish Government], on Anglo-Turkish naval relations. WSC also criticises the style and presentation of Limpus's letters: stating that a flag officer writing to a member of the Admiralty Board on service matters should observe "proper seriousness and formality. Letters should be well written or typed on good paper, sentences should be complete and follow the regular English form ... Mere jottings of passing impressions hurriedly put together without sequence" were not good enough.
