Scope and Contents

Telegram from WSC, First Lord of the Admiralty to Sir Joseph Ward, Prime Minister of New Zealand, stating that if there were further increases to the German Naval Building Programme, the Admiralty wished to transfer the battle cruiser HMS New Zealand from the China Station to the Home Fleet for service in the North Sea, and that if the New Zealand Government approved, the armoured cruiser Defence would be sent to the China Station, and HMS Zew Zealand would have a three month visit to the Dominion from October 1912, before taking up duties with the Home Fleet [carbon].
