Scope and Contents

Minute from WSC [First Lord of the Admiralty] to the Director of the Air Division, Admiralty [Captain Murray Sueter] and the 4th Sea Lord [Captain Cecil Lambert], returning the proof of the new Air Service Regulations, objecting to the new title, "Royal Naval Air Service", as the term "Flying Wing" was accurate, more expressive and simpler; WSC also states that he did not think it necessary to include Captain Godfrey Paine, Commandant of the Central Flying School, in the list of naval air officers as he was serving under the War Office, would not like the arrangements and "entertains a very poor opinion of the Naval Wing"; WSC states that he felt it best to leave Paine where he was, as a regular naval officer lent by the Royal Navy to the War Office for specific duties.
