Scope and Contents
Letter from Charles Masterman [Under Secretary of State, Home Office] to [WSC] marked "secret" concerning his discussions with [David] Shackleton about a new Home Office post as Labour Advisor to the Factory and Industrial Department. Masterman reports that Shackleton would be likely to accept the position if it were offered to him as he feels that he could do "good work" in view of his influence with the textile industry, but warns that the Home Office would have to increase the proposed salary. Typescript and manuscript in the hand of Charles Masterman, signed with initials. Annotated "File with secret official papers. WC".
