Scope and Contents

Letter from Charles Masterman, [Under Secretary of State, Home Office] to [WSC] concerning current Home Office legislation. He recommends that the Shops Bill be given priority, unless uncontroversial legislation is required in which case he recommends the Check Weighing Bill or the Building and Engineering Bill. He points out that the Inebriates Bill is subject to the conditions of a Treasury grant and is also likely to create objections in Committee. Annotated by [Sir Edward Troup, Permanent Under Secretary of State, Home Office] recording agreement with Masterman and suggesting that [WSC] seek an extension of the Treasury grant for the Inebriates Bill. Signed manuscript.
