Letter from WSC to Lieutenant-Colonel B A Thornton, [Honorary Secretary, St John's Wood and Marylebone Branch, London, India Defence League]; acknowledging receipt of his letter to Lord Wolmer [Chairman, Executive Committee, India Defence League, later 3rd Lord Selborne] on the future policy of the League; expressing regret at the "hectoring and ill-natured character" of the letter, and stating that he did not consider that any contribution made by the Branch to the opposition to the Bill justified such criticisms; suggesting that he should have more respect for MPs like Lord Wolmer, "whose abilities and exertions deserve the gratitude of every member of the India Defence League"; also includes covering letter to Lord Wolmer, asking him to send the letter to Thornton if he approved.
