Scope and Contents

Letter from WSC to John Morgan [ex-Counsel to the Indian Defence League, and Counsel to the Indian Chamber of Princes], agreeing to look through the proofs of Morgan's book ["Germany in Arms"] and then decide whether he is the best person to write its introduction. WSC adds that he doesn't think they can make any further headway over India and the Princes, and must now look forward not back, to "await the melancholy course of events comforted only by the fact that we have done our utmost to avert them". More urgently, WSC explains that he has secured a promise from Government that a day will be given to discussing the decision of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council on the Statute of Westminster and the Irish Treaty. He asks if Morgan would let him have any notes which he has made on the issue, as he was concerned in the amendments to the Statute of Westminster Bill 4 years before, and adds that "we must collaborate together and with our friends of 1931 to make sure that our vindication is apparent to the public".
