(Untitled), 12 May 1935
Scope and Contents
Letter from WSC to 1st Lord Rothermere [earlier Sir Harold Harmsworth], thanking him for sending a copy of a letter from Adolf Hitler, commenting that an understanding with Germany to dominate Europe would be contrary to the whole of British history, and comparing this with the fable of the jackal who went hunting with the tiger. WSC adds that "a reasonable answer to Hitler would be that his plans of an Anglo-German understanding would be most agreeable provided they included France and gave fair consideration to Italy." Unsigned copy.
