Scope and Contents

Letter from Sir John Reith, BBC, Broadcasting House, London, to WSC, thanks for agreeing to take part in series of broadcasts on India. Regretting that WSC felt that the allocation of speakers was unfair. Stating that he was also facing criticism from others, particularly that for the inclusion of both WSC and Lord Lloyd in the list, and that the Labour opposition were claiming an extra speaker. This request had been denied, but he was compelled to offer them the 9th talk [out of ten]. Offering WSC the 8th, rather than the 7th. Hoping that WSC would be satisfied "If not, to us....there remains the somewhat melancholy satisfaction of equal unpopularity all round".
