Letter from Sir Henry Gidney, president of the Anglo-Indian and Domiciled European Association (31 Buckingham Gate, [London]) to WSC explaining that his question to WSC about whether he belonged to the 'die-hard' party on India was intended to be the first of a series which would have proved that WSC believed in political progress in India but wished it to go at a slower pace than his opponents.
