Letter from [WSC] (Chartwell) to Lord Balfour [earlier Arthur Balfour] on: the Liberal resolve to fight the Government on the dropping of the prosecution against John Campbell and the Russian Treaty; the composition of the Conservative government that would probably need to be formed following the defeat in Parliament of the present Government and before a general election; the likelihood that Lord Carson [earlier Sir Edward Carson] will be appointed by the Government to represent Ulster [Ireland] thus removing the Irish question as a prominent issue; the good effects in Scotland of the meeting [in Edinburgh]; WSC's stay with Lord Balfour and Alice Balfour.
