Letter from Lord Carson [earlier Sir Edward Carson] (Cleve Court, Minster in Thanet, [Kent]) to WSC stating that he did not contemplate that Lord Balfour [earlier Arthur Balfour] would "unfurl the flag" but he could influence people in the direction of cooperation [between Liberals and Conservatives]. Praises WSC's article, approves the letter of Herbert Asquith [later 1st Lord Oxford and Asquith] and notes that he (Carson) and Sir James Craig [later Lord Craigavon] have houses with similar names.
