Scope and Contents

Letter from William Munro, secretary of the Perth Division National Liberal Association, to Sir Archibald Sinclair [later 1st Lord Thurso] enclosing the two letters described below and noting that the Unionists in East Perthshire [Scotland] have departed from the agreement that the question of which party should put up a candidate in the constituency should be referred to David Lloyd George and Austen Chamberlain for arbitration (11 Sep).Letter from Alex Stewart, secretary of the Perth Division Unionist Association, to William Munro reporting that his executive have rejected the idea of referring the candidature issue to arbitration and suggesting instead that a joint Liberal and Unionist committee be formed to select a candidate acceptable to both parties (9 Sep).Letter from William Munro to Alexander MacCallum Scott (Anchor Cottage, Prestwick, Ayrshire, [Scotland]) referring to the letter from Alex Stewart described above and concluding that the Unionists' suggestion of a joint committee means they are determined to have a candidate from their own party (11 Sep).
