Letter from Hugh Frewen (Baghdad, [Mesopotamia, later Iraq]) to WSC on: his coronation ode to King Feisal [not present]; his financial difficulties and his desire for an administrative post in an African colony, preferably Tanganyika [later Tanzania]; the need to surround King Feisal with pomp and show to attract support for his regime; the qualities required by the successor of Sir Percy Cox as High Commissioner and the necessity that he should not be a Jew; the suitability of Sir Percy Girouard for the post; the prestige among the Arabs enjoyed by Gertrude Bell; the death of [Marigold Churchill]; the advisability of WSC visiting Mesopotamia in the spring, when the Mosul vilayet is under corn.
