Letter from [WSC] (at sea) to the Maharajah of Alwar denying that he refused the Viceroyalty of India, stating that his recent inheritance makes no difference to his political outlook, praising Lord Reading [earlier Sir Rufus Isaacs], the new Viceroy, and the Duke of Connaught for visiting India, promising to tell Edwin Montagu of the Maharajah's support for a visit to India by the Prince of Wales [later King Edward VIII], approving the establishment of the Council of Princes in India, and referring to his efforts to achieve a friendly settlement between Britain and Turkey.
