Scope and Contents

Note from Herbert Creedy (War Office) to [WSC] referring to a letter from the Foreign Office [see CHAR 2/105/50-51] stating that WSC would not be able to wear the United States Distinguished Service Medal if he accepted it , offering to draft a letter on the matter and referring to earlier cases involving Lord Kitchener and Lord Milner, [earlier Sir Alfred Milner] (26 Apr). With reply in WSC's hand that he wishes Creedy to collect precedents and talk to Lord Milner rather than write a letter, (27 Apr).
