Scope and Contents
Account by General Sir Ian Hamilton (1 Hyde Park Gardens, [London]) of a discussion between himself, Brigadier-General Cecil Aspinall, Walter Roch, Colonel Josiah Wedgwood and others on the discussions among British military commanders about evacuation of Gallipoli, General Sir William Birdwood [later Lord Birdwood] declining to become commander in chief of the operation and the enmity towards Birdwood of Lieutenant-General Sir Carmichael Monro and Major-General Sir Arthur Lynden-Bell. On folio 33 is a note on the danger of Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett's hatred for [WSC] becoming troublesome if Bartlett is given official recognition. Annotated typescript.
