Letter from Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Maurice Hankey (Committee of Imperial Defence) to WSC (41 Cromwell Road) enclosing secretary's notes [minutes] of meetings of the War Council [see CHAR 2/86/2-6] and stating the stipulations of the Prime Minister [Herbert Asquith, later Lord Oxford and Asquith] that they should be returned as soon as WSC has finished with them and that they should not be shown to anyone else. Asks WSC to frame his evidence to the Dardanelles Commission of Inquiry in such a way as not to show that he has seen the notes. Signed typescript.

Researchers can download images of documents directly from churchillarchive.com and so are encouraged to consider bringing a laptop or other device for this purpose. For conservation reasons, the fragile originals are no longer issued to researchers.
This digital edition is open to researchers unless otherwise marked in the catalogue. Some material has been closed by the Cabinet Office or by Churchill Archives Centre in accordance with data protection legislation.
