(Untitled), 25 May 1916
Scope and Contents
Letter from Lord Fisher [earlier Sir John Fisher] (36 Berkeley Square, [London]) to Admiral Sir John Jellicoe [later Lord Jellicoe] noting that Jellicoe agrees with him that Britain should not keep a fleet in the Mediterranean to do the job of the French and Italian fleets, complaining that the French fleet has been virtually rebuilt in Malta dockyard, attacking the passive war policy of Herbert Asquith [later 1st Lord Oxford and Asquith] and Arthur Balfour [later Lord Balfour], noting the good performance of the Russian mines after the "mess" made of mining by Admiral Charlton, criticising the vote of credit to Britain's allies, recalling a meeting with Queen Alexandra, and referring to the good landing sites for the British army in Schleswig-Holstein [Denmark].
