Letter from J L Garvin (9 Greville Place, [London]) to WSC assuring him that his luck will turn and comparing WSC's forthcoming military service in Belgium with that of his ancestor John Churchill [later 1st Duke of Marlborough]. Considers: the political prospects of Herbert Asquith [later 1st Lord Oxford and Asquith] and David Lloyd George [with particular reference to the issue of conscription]; the situation on the eastern front and the vital importance of holding Salonika [Greece]; the evacuation of the ANZAC troops.
