Letter from J L Garvin (Shootlands, Wotton, Dorking, [Surrey]) to WSC expressing confidence that WSC's forthcoming speech [at Dundee on the war situation] will be powerful and explaining that it is still uncertain whether he (Garvin) will continue as editor of the Observer. Describes his correspondence with Waldorf Astor [later 2nd Lord Astor of Hever Castle] on this matter and how he has written to Nancy Astor [later Lady Astor] asking her to take the judgement of Arthur Balfour [later Lord Balfour] judgement on naval policy. Notes that the Unionists support David Lloyd George.
