Scope and Contents
Letter from G Wallace Carter (National Free Trade Lectures, 8 Victoria Street, Westminster, [London]) to WSC (Home Office) returning a letter from James Caird [see CHAR 2/44/175] and asserting that the average Liberal speaker is no longer competent to deal with the question of Free Trade because it has become so specialised. Reports that statistics are being gathered about the development of industries in the last twenty years and does not think comparisons with conditions before 1842 would be useful. Signed and annotated typescript.
