Scope and Contents

Letter from Admiral Sir John Fisher [later Lord Fisher] (Admiralty) to WSC reporting that Admiral Charles Beresford "is doing his best to raise a mutiny", that he has had dinner with F E Smith [later 1st Lord Birkenhead], [?Sir Edward] Carson [later Lord Carson], Rufus Isaacs [later 1st Lord Reading] and [?John] Simon, "who I lost my heart to completely", that he (Fisher) has been "slayed" by the King [Edward VII] and others for his speech on the Navy at the Guildhall but that David Lloyd George and Sir Joseph Dimsdale have praised it. Refers to the voyage of HMS Venus to Aden and encloses a letter from Admiral Sir Reginald Henderson [see CHAR 2/32/17]. Typescript copy of this letter at CHAR 2/32/33.
