Scope and Contents

Letter from Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), Mar Lodge, Braemar, to WSC, on his objection to serving soldiers writing for newspapers and expressing strong opinions on the conduct of operations. Hoping that WSC's book would be "history and not military criticism". Stating that Parliamentary and Literary life would suit him best "the monotony of military life in an Indian Station can have no attraction for you - though fortunately some officers do put up with it or else we should have no army at all.
