Suggested economies include: a reduction in naval estimates; the abolition of yeomanry regiments and amalgamation of cavalry regiments; the re-organisation of central government and the abolition of several post-war departments such as the Ministry of Transport, the Mines Department and the Department of Overseas Trade; funding the unemployment insurance bill; and postponing civil and military new works.
