Includes papers by various individuals on various subjects including: [Lord] Curzon of Kedleston [Lord Privy Seal] on the air defence of London; Vice Admiral John de Robeck [Commander of naval forces] on the landing of the army on the Gallipoli peninsula; negotiations between [2nd Lord] Esher [earlier Reginald Brett] and General [Joseph] Gallieni and General Girodon; Maurice Hankey [Secretary; Committee Imperial Defence] on the winter campaign at the Dardanelles; summaries of the war situation and reports in enemy newspapers; WSC on the trench mortar corps, the danger posed by gas as a weapon, naval policy; paraphrased telegrams on the situation at the Dardanelles and on General Sir John Nixon's advance in Mesopotamia [later Iraq]; [2nd] Lord Esher on war policy; and correspondence between [Lord] Kitchener [Secretary of State for War] and WSC on the transport of troops to Gallipoli.Also includes a manuscript statement by WSC on a renewed naval attack at the Dardanelles.
