Includes papers and memoranda prepared by: WSC; Rear-Admiral Sir Roger Keyes; Brigadier-General Arthur Turner, British Baltic Military Mission; Harold Williams; Major-General Sir Percy Radcliffe, Director of Military Operations; Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Harington, Commander of the Army of the Black Sea; and other War and Air officials.Also includes notes and minutes by WSC, Sir Archibald Sinclair [later 1st Lord Thurso, Personal Military Secretary to the Secretary State for War], General Sir Henry Wilson [Chief of Imperial General Staff]; a letter from Youdenitch; intelligence reports about Japanese secret agents, a double agent working for MI5, and German intelligence.Subjects include: the military consequences of the Turkish peace settlement and the situation in Constantinople [later Istanbul] and Thrace; army estimates; matters concerning Russia, including General Nikolai Youdenitch's army, supplying north Russia, the situation in Batum [Georgia], the case for British intervention, conditions under the Bolsheviks, the position of General Peter Wrangel, and refugees from the Crimea; the situation in Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Mesopotamia [later Iraq] and Persia [later Iran]; British military liabilities.
