Includes annotated proofs, galley proofs and cuttings for: an interview with WSC for the New Statesman and Nation, in which he defends western democracies against totalitarianism, discusses the possible effect of war on the democratic system and civil liberties, and his views on the inadequacies of ARP, conscription, and how to prevent war; the introduction to a catalogue of the artist Paul Maze, in which WSC recalls Maze during World War I (with a copy of a catalogue for a French exhibition in 1933); "Will Hitler Make Napoleon's Mistakes?" for Illustrated magazine, comparing the careers of the two figures and speculating on Hitler's intentions (with letters from Percy Cudlipp, Editorial Manager of the Daily Herald, and W A Williamson, Editor of Illustrated); "Lord Rothermere's Warnings" for the Daily Mail, a review of [1st] Lord Rothermere's [earlier Sir Harold Harmsworth] "Warnings and Predictions", commenting on Rothermere's views on the contemporary international crisis; "Anthony Eden" for the Strand Magazine, an account of Eden's life and career, particularly on Abyssinia [Ethiopia], Spain, Italy, and Eden's resignation; "Aviation - Man's Bane or Boon?" for the Rotarian on the future of air travel, the autogyro, gliding, an historical review, and the use of air power against civilians in war; the introduction to "Step by Step", a brief account of British foreign policy between 1935 and 1936.
