Correspondents concerning gifts to WSC include: Guy Millard of the Foreign Office, [John] Nicholas Henderson, Assistant Private Secretary to Foreign Secretary advising on gifts from abroad; Leonard Henry, British Consul General at Istanbul [Turkey]; Duff Cooper [later 1st Lord Norwich], British Ambassador to France; Admiral Sir Arthur Lumley Lyster on the use of tankers as aircraft carriers; and Admiral Sir Lionel Halsey, Chairman of the Navy League.Also includes: copies of correspondence from WSC to the individuals mentioned above; notes and copies of correspondence from John Colville, John Martin and John Peck [Private Secretaries to WSC] and Edith Watson [Secretary to WSC]; a tribute to Franklin Roosevelt and a pamphlet commemorating the Malmesbury [South Africa] country fair.Subjects covered by the file include gifts of cigars to WSC.
