Scope and Contents
The first, labelled "Engagement diary" has tables of hours worked by the secretaries, lists of people attending certain events, and a note from [Prime Minister's Private Secretary] "F D W B" [Francis Brown] enclosed between its pages, with details written in the hands of various of WSC's secretaries, particularly [Kathleen] Hill and [Elizabeth] Layton.The second diary replicates most of the information in the first with entries mainly in the hand of [Jo Sturdee, later Lady Onslow] until August and WSC's trips to Cairo [Egypt] and Moscow [Soviet Union] after which it is empty.
