Correspondents include: Thomas Neame sending some fruit (3); ?Joan, Lady Portal, on a donation to the RAF Benevolent Fund; A L Rowse sending a copy of his book "Tudor Cornwall" and commenting on WSC's war leadership [original filed in CHAR 2/386]; Alfred Smith asking for assistance with his reappointment to the military (7); John Balfour (Foreign Office) on a bedspread sent by a United States grammar school. Also includes notes and copies of correspondence from WSC's secretaries [Kathleen] Hill and "M S" [Mary Shearburn], [Prime Minister's Private Secretaries] "A B" [Anthony Bevir], [Edith] Watson, "T L R" [Leslie Rowan], [John] Colville, and "J M M" [John Martin], and CSC and [her secretary Grace] Hamblin; and from WSC to some of those mentioned above and to Alfred Noyes.Other subjects include: other gifts received or sent by WSC; requests for WSC's autograph or permission to reproduce his image in various forms; the New American Hospital at Headington, Oxfordshire.Also includes: photograph of a WSC postcard; text of a speech by Ralph Waldo Emerson at Manchester in November 1847.
