Correspondents include: Arthur Bateman criticising the government; Alfred Bergman, ?director of Remington Typewriter Company, on his campaign to persuade the United States to enter the war (14); Edward Hulton, Managing Director of Picture Post, requesting an interview with WSC. Also includes notes and copies of correspondence from WSC's secretaries [Kathleen] Hill and [Gwen] Davies, [Admiralty] Private Secretary [Bernard] Sendall, [Prime Minister's Private Secretaries] "J H P" [John Peck], "E M W" [Edith Watson], and "J R C" [John Colville], and "B B" [Brendan Bracken, Prime Minister's Parliamentary Private Secretary].Other subjects include: requests for WSC to address a meeting at Hitchin [Hertfordshire], give permission to use quotes from his speeches, and to support the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Comforts Fund for the Troops; gifts for WSC of a picture of Drake's Drum from the Navy League and a William Pitt seal.Also includes: a cutting on WSC from the Hornsey Journal [London]; copies of letters of support to Bergman from individuals including Erwin Canham, General News Editor, Christian Science Monitor; memorandum by a Noble Lowndes on the Home Guard.
