Scope and Contents

Edward Cooke (bap. 1755, d. 1820) came up to King's in 1773. His father William was Provost of King's. Edward wrote political pamphlets and eventually became under-secretary for the military department and for the civil department in Dublin. Returning to London he became Lord Camden's under-secretary for war and the colonies, and then Lord Castlereagh's secretary at the Foreign Office. This is a engraving by John Burnet (after George Sanders).
