Arrangement
There was no apparent order on the photographs when they were received, except insofar as some were pasted into a scrapbook-style photo album, most likely by EM Forster. For the catalogue order, Stape's chronology and 'The Hill of Devi' were used to order the descriptions in the order that Forster first visited the sites. No photographs were rearranged within the scrapbook photo album, which therefore still represents the order in which EM Forster pasted them in. A list of the order in which the photos were received is available upon request to the archivist.
Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
Most of the photographs are monochrome.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Given in 2020 by the family of Eric Fletcher (KC 1945) after his death.
Bibliography
General
Most of the loose photographs are labelled on the back in pencil in an unknown hand. The titles used in the catalogue are taken from these labels (usually beginning with a number) and, for the photographs pasted into the scrapbook album, from the captions EM Forster wrote in the album.
