Scope and Contents
These papers contain letters to and from Rupert Brooke and Sir Edward Marsh, with correspondents including Denis Browne, Sibyl Pye, Estrid Linder and Cathleen Nesbitt. Also includes correspondence between Marsh and Mrs Brooke. Other items include the Sidgwick and Jackson publication records for Brooke and Marsh, Brooke's travelling suitcase, Denis Browne's wallet.

Biographical / Historical
John Schroder was 'an enthusiastic collector indulging in his favourite pastime'. He started collecting Brooke material in 1952, bought Sir Edward Marsh's papers from Christopher Hassall in 1957 and continued to collect throughout his life.

Most of the papers collected by Schroder (except the Sidgwick and Jackson archive) were bound by him into guard books. Any titles listed within citation marks in this RCB/S section were assigned by Schroder

The material now owned by King's College and listed in this section comprises the manuscript material from the John Schroder collection. The Schroder family retained the published material from that collection.
