Biographical / Historical

Wystan Hugh Auden (1907-1973) was a poet and writer. Sir Stephen Harold Spender (1909-1995) was a poet. They met in 1928 at Oxford.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The volume of Auden poems was given by the printer (Stephen Spender) to Dadie Rylands in 1930. In 1974 Spender gave the two letters to Dadie, and Dadie donated the whole to the King's College Library.
