Scope and Contents

The years 1918, 1920, 1928, 1930 and 1932 are present only as photocopies. The 1919 booklet is original. Boris Ord's annotated booklets are present for 1931, 1934-38, 1940, 1946-51, 1953, and 1955-56. Booklets indicating the timings of the service (for BBC broadcast) are present for 1963-4, 1967-79, and 1981-2. David Willcocks' annotated copies are present for 1958-62 and 1965. Frank Anderson's annotated copies are present for 1930, 1944-6, 1948-50, 1952-3, 1955-63, 1965-77, 1979 and 1981. Other annotated copies are available for 1947-8, 1957, 1966, 1988 and 2013. In 2015 the 'original' is a digital file.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Transferred from Rowe Music Library. 1973 and 1987 booklets were supplied by Donald Parry. Some copies donated by Miss M. A. Arber, April 2004 - see accessions register for more information. Annotated copies were transferred from the Director of Music's Office in January 2009. The 1919 booklet was transferred from the Dean's office in Feb 2010. Frank Anderson's copies were given by David Adamson, Jun 2019.

Existence and Location of Originals

The original 1918 service booklet from which the photocopy in this file was made is filed in KCAR/3/1/2/4/7. The original 1920 and 1928 service booklets from which the photocopies in this file were made are held in the Director of Music's Office. The original 1930 and 1932 service booklets from which the photocopies in this file were made are filed in CSV/68/5.
