Scope and Contents
Papers concerning cases over legacies to King's College:
- Probate and will of Edward Freeman.
- Close copy bill of Thackeray v Atherton relating to the Revd S Sewell's legacy of £1000.
- Copy order of the Master of the Rolls relating to the £2000 given to the College by Provost Roderick in case his children die without issue before the age of 21 years.
- Copies of papers relating to Sandhurst in Berkshire, Mr William Bullock's legacy. These include a request to purchase the College's freehold reversionary interest, a list of the estate's properties, a bill for repairs done, and two letters to Thomas York, attorney at law, from Thomas Beard and Charles Pratt, regarding a legal case wherein Beard (the College's bailiff) attempted to recoup rent arrears owed by Francis White by taking possession of goods and chattels from the estate, the property of Robert Greenhow.
