Biographical / Historical

In 1951 Nathaniel Wedd's widow left money with which the paths of the Front Court were paved in his memory. They were paved with York stone edged with cobbles and this was continued in 1955 to cover the path from the south-west corner of Gibbs' to the back gate. Donations between 1963, 1969 and 1970 by G H W Rylands enabled all the path from the Library to Clare gate to be similarly paved.
