Biographical / Historical
The mansion house belonging to Humphrey, Duke of Gloucester, in the district of Baynard Castle and parish of St Andrew by the Wardrobe in London (also called Blackfriars or Puddle Dock or St Andrew's Wharf) was granted to King's College in 1447 by Henry VI as part of the original foundation of the College. The founder's grant is kept under KCAR/6/2/66/2 Title deeds GDH/12.
