Biographical / Historical

It is not known when the Senior Wine Account came into being, it is known to have been in existence before 1912. From the beginning the Senior Wine Account was a purely private account but this changed in 1951 when the College loaned the Account money. College thus had a financial stake in the Account. The Senior Wine Account did not sell wines to Junior members; there was a separate account (the Junior Wine Account) which was concerned with purchases and sales to Junior members. In 1951 the Junior Wine Account was abolished and thereafter all purchases and sales of wine went through the Senior Wine Account. For further information see KCGB/6/38/1.
