Papers concerning the selection of Provosts, 1600 - 1918
Scope and Contents
Chiefly correspondence with the Vice Provost on selection of successive Provosts. The papers include accounts of the election procedure, individual 'applications' for the office, the qualifications required in a Provost and voting lists. They cover in particular the elections of Charles Roderick, John Adams, Andrew Snape and William George, 1689 - 1743.
