Biographical / Historical

Noel Broxholme (1686-1748) went to Christ Church Oxford in 1704/5 and was Physician to the Prince of Wales 1734-9. The John Hedges who was MA from King's in 1726 got his BA from St John's College, Oxford, in 1709 (so he was an Oxford contemporary of Broxholme). A footnote to the Yale edition of Horace Walpole's letters (vol 9 page 66, letter to George Montagu dated 25 July 1748) describes Latin odes shared between Broxholme and John Hedges (ca 1689-1737), Treasurer to the Prince of Wales 1728-37 which Venn and Venn identify as having come up to Peterhouse, Cambridge in 1706.
