Durnford, Walter, 1924
Scope and Contents
Sir Walter Durnford (1847-1926) attended Eton 1859-65 and was then admitted as a scholar to King's. He earned his BA and Fellowship in 1869, MA in 1872, LLD in 1919. In 1870 Durnford returned to Eton as an Assistant Master, but came back to King's in 1899. In 1909 he became Vice-Provost of King's, and in 1910 a Fellow of Eton. His services during the war were recognized in 1919 when he was created GBE. He was Provost of King's 1918-1926. This is a photogravure print of a portrait by Sir William Orpen.
